VIZ Media is one of the industry leaders when it comes to both mangas and anime, and they’re always looking to expand their reach. Today, they announced that they have acquired the rights to two new manga novels and a rebooted anime series.
The first of the two titles, NieR: Automata: Short Story Lon, is a collection of short fiction and novellas based on the bestselling video game, NieR: Automata, which has sold more than two million copies, and was hailed as one of the best RPG titles last year. This is actually the second of two novels set within the universe, the first one arrives this October.
Also announced was Smashed: Junji Ito Story Collection, a chilling new hardcover collection of thirteen tales.
On the anime side, VIZ Media acquired the rights to Megalobox. This anime is a reboot of the beloved manga called “Tomorrow’s Joe”, which is about an orphan who became a boxer. You can check out the trailer reveal for the anime below.
