How did the second Call of Duty: World League open event turn out? Who was the victor and why is their win significant?
The CWL New Orleans open took place over last weekend at the Ernest N. Morial Convention Center. By Sunday Team Kaliber, Luminosity Gaming, Rise Nation and Red Reserve were the four teams left in the championship bracket. Kaliber ended up winning the entire event and taking home the $200,000 prize pool.
If the name Team Kaliber sounds familiar, it’s because they also won the CWL Dallas Open in December 2017. Since the number of events in this CWL season currently total two, Kaliber holds a clean sweep so far.
“Winning back-to-back events means the world to us. A lot of people doubted us, even after our Championship win at CWL Dallas, and I’m glad we could prove them all wrong,” said CWL New Orleans Open MVP Martin ‘Chino’ Chino . “I’m really proud of us but being as good as we are I feel like we can keep improving. We want to stay at the top.”
It gets harder from here. Their win streak will now catapult them to the next level: the CWL Pro League, held at the MLG Arena in Columbus, Ohio. Can Team Kaliber maintain their lead? Watch for the competition to begin January 23.
