Superhero Hype reports that after the premiere of Batman and Harley Quinn at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, DC announced the next set of films for DC’s animated originals for 2018.
The first will be Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, based on a classic Elseworlds story by Brian Augustyn and Mike Mignola (Creator of Hellboy). It features the Dark Knight in pursuit of the legendary serial killer Jack the Ripper. Later this spring we’ll see the return of Task Force X to the world of animation in Suicide Squad: Hell to Pay (since the earlier animated film Batman: Assault on Arkham is considered part of the Arkham Asylum video game universe rather than the animated features universe). Rounding out the schedule will be the return of the Icon in The Death of Superman. This version will hew closer to the classic Superman story, and will feature more fan-favorite moments that were never seen in Superman: Doomsday. And finally in 2019, we’ll see the second half of the Doomsday story in Reign of the Supermen, which will bring those specific versions of Superboy, Steel, The Eradicator, and the Cyborg Superman to animation.
