How do you catch every episode of a Pokemon season at once? Who’s taking care of it?
With 20 years’ worth of episodes, and 52 installments in each season, publishing the entirety of the Pokemon TV series is a daunting task — but Viz Media has been there from the beginning, when they put out 3-episode VHS tapes in the late 90s. This led to DVD collections and, most recently, complete season sets. Viz is now up to Season Seven, midway through the Hoenn region. This season was called “Pokemon Advanced Challenge” because it adapted Ruby and Sapphire, two games from the GBA years.
In the POKÉMON ADVANCED CHALLENGE COMPLETE COLLECTION, a shadow hovers over Ash, May and friends as they continue their journey through the Hoenn region, and it’s not just that of Mt. Chimney—both Team Magma and Team Aqua put plans into action with our heroes caught in the middle! When not foiling evil schemes, Ash and May chase their personal goals, with Ash battling for three more Gym badges and May winning her first three contest ribbons. The group also gains new Pokémon like Torkoal and Bulbasaur, but could they be too much to handle?
All 52 episodes of Pokemon Advanced Challenge will be made available in one set for the first time next week, at an MSRP of $54.97 (we expect some retailers to offer it at a lower price). Look for it December 5!
