DC’s direct-to-video animated superhero films have been a pretty healthy business venture for them. There have been 29 created to date, and the 30th will hit this summer. Appropriate enough for the occasion, it’s a throwback adventure starring the original Batman from the 1992 classic TV series that started it all.
In Batman and Harley Quinn Poison Ivy is threatening to destroy humanity, and Batman’s only hope to stop her is the one who knows her best — her old friend, Harleen Quinzel. The scenario will definitely remind you of the “Harlequinade” episode of BTAS, and promises lots of Odd Couple antics and zaniness on Harley’s end.
Entertainment Weekly released a brand-new trailer for the movie this morning. Take a crack at it, puddin’!
Batman and Harley Quinn features Kevin Conroy returning to the Bat-Mike once again along with Loren Lester, who voiced Nightwing in the series. Sadly we can’t have Arleen Sorkin because she retired from acting, and substitute Harley Melissa Rauch (The Big Bang Theory) doesn’t sound the same. But wow, a new BTAS adventure — who’s really complaining about that?
WB will release Batman and Harley Quinn on Blu-Ray, DVD and digital this summer.
