I think both years are good for Saturday Morning Cartoons. What do you think is the best year for Saturday Morning Cartoons?

    Why not make more choices?

To me, neither of those years fits.

LOL, I think you'd be better off asking "from 1978 to 2004, what year was best for Saturday Morning Cartoons".

1978 was the year they aired "Challenge of the Superfriends" (which was the Legion of Doom season for the "Superfriends" show, and yes, that's a milestone in TV animation).

2004 is...about when Saturday morning cartoons died. Fox Kids had died 2 years prior, and this was maybe about the last good season of Kids WB. "Johnny Test" premiered on Kids WB in the Fall of 2005, and that was the arguably the start of "the dark times"...

Do you like 2004 because of Winx Club or 1979 because of Casper and the Angels, The New Shmoo, Scooby-Doo and Scrappy-Doo, The Super Globetrotters and The Thing?

From my relatively short time with Saturday morning cartoons I can't really say what year was truly the best because I really was more of a fan of the 90's to early 00's range, It's hard to really pick out a time because during that period there isn't much of a difference, only the conclusion of Fox Box being the only negative.

Outside of that I also like 2012 the most, even with the barely functioning block Vortexx I enjoyed it absolutely well, because it just felt like what I always imagined a modern Saturday morning block would be, and Vortexx really impressed me in its debut.

I could said I like 1979, here in Quebec, the 2 main French-speaking tv networks Radio-Canada(French CBC) and TVA beginned to air some dubbed animes in French like Goldorak(UFO Robot Grendizer), Candy Candy, Albator (Captain Harlock), La Bataille des Planètes(Battle of the Planets alias Gatchaman) and Heidi althought we also got earlier in the decade Speed Racer, Marineboy, Mahoutsukai Sally known as "Mini-fée" and "Le Roi Léo"(Kimba the White Lion).

    Oh, I somehow missed it's "1979", not "1978".

Well, between the two (1979 and 2004)....I'd have to pick 2004. Neither one of these are really stellar years, in my opinion. We were on the threshold of the 80's, so 1979 felt like the last gasp of the 70's. The Thing cartoon sucked, and this is the year they introduced Scrappy Doo. "Challenge of the Superfriends" was the only good thing on.

In 2004, Kids WB was arguably still on top in the ratings, but I thing it was on the start of the decline. I couldn't stand Xiaolin Showdown, couldn't stand "Da Boom Crew", and I wasn't fond of "The Batman" at first. At least Yu-Gi-Oh was still going strong, and they had the 2003 "Ninja Turtles" on FoxBox.

I chose 1980 because it was from 1980 through 2004 that Saturday Morning cartoons became even more popular, especially with reruns of the Bugs Bunny and Tweety Show, the One Saturday Morning block, Fox Kids and CBS Kids dominating most of the Saturday Morning blocks.
