I got that error too.
TV.com must have deleted the thread. They know they can't escape the wackos. They just want to hide it.
Must of been recently destroyed. Oh well, no Black Lagoon, Daria, or The Doors talk for you all.
It was nice while it lasted. =/
Lord, she's gone and done it again. Introducing Name's new language, Huntsanese.

And here's the awesome insominac360's version of it.

Talking about my favorite bands is a pain in that case. But Insomniac's version for the major win!
GENTLEMEN, I BRING YOU... CORN. Err-- "Anime Yuck."
Also love this:
I couldn't make it past one page of that nonsense. Even though I'm sometimes guilty of it, it's not really fair for fans of American animation to dump on anime. That said, it's my opinion that anime fans are way too invested in this stuff and have blown it up to be something much, much bigger and more important than it really is. Which then makes them blind to the qualities of good American animation because, in their heads, nothing ever made in this country can touch even some of the weaker Japanese offerings. I think American animation fans take offense to this but unfortunately it doesn't look like either side of this can see eye to eye. Instead it's always just a game of "No it isn't! Yes, it is!!" whenever this subject comes up.
Just my two cents.
I was skimming that anime yuck and most responses were that certain shows sucked, certain shows ruled, Anime owns American animation, vice versa, traitorous accusations and this is from the first 3 pages.
Though some of my favorite comments were saying that the Naruto dub, or any dub, suck. To me, I know it controversial, but I like the dub of Naruto, and I'm not fond of the voices for the Japanese. I question whenever anyone says that Naruto voice in English sucks, if they actually took time to listen to how JPN Naruto talked and sounded, cause they are the same level of annoyance. As for any dub, Basically that a matter if someone like 4Kids is handling it or not. I just hate that accusation just because it mostly comes from people who watched so many of the Japanese episodes, and can't accept that an english dub exist, and is doing a fine job.
I like practically most forms of animation, that American, Japanese, Canadian, French, and a bunch of other country works I saw in my history of Animation class. I still enjoy alot of cartoons from America (Simpsons, Spongebob, Chowder, Phineas and Ferb, Futurama, Foster's, ETC) and still like anime (One Piece, Kinnikuman, Pokemon, Dragon Ball, ETC)
I really don't get it. People who hate the broadcast version of Naruto have evidently never seen a cut-and-pasted 4Kids-ified anime in their lives. This is what they've been screaming for for years--a translation with all the Japanese references intact--and now they don't want it.
I completely agree with you, and I mostly watch anime over American cartoons. American cartoons have their high points and low points, just like Japanese cartoons, and American animation is usually BETTER than Japanese animation (I'm talking about the quality of the animation, not the writing and whatnot), though that could be because of the bigger budget. That said, both sides have their major fanboys who wouldn't like anything from the other side no matter how good it is. I'm talking about the fat weeaboos who hate Batman: TAS, and the Bandit Keith-types who hate Cowboy Bebop. I'm sure you know a few of each.
Basically, people should learn to be more rounded. If it's good, I like it, if it's not, I don't. Simple as that.
What even sadder is that most people think 4Kids did Naruto, and Naruto is an adult show. Seriously though if they, the Naruto fans, want to know what 4Kids does to an anime, watch their version of One Piece, and tell me that doesn't respect the original story, atleast with the Naruto dub on CN, you get it for a nearly uncut dub.
As for thinking Naruto is an adult show claim, it mostly from fansubs taking liberty, since they like to add the occasional "F" bomb along with the "S" word. Since Naruto is technically a kids show in it native Japan mostly because of various things like it being published in Shonen Jump, the key word being Shonen here. Then there is all the merchandise for it in Japan, video games, clothing, "Happy Set" toys, stationary/school supplies. Tell me that isn't marketed towards kids.
I could tell you it isn't but that would be a lie.
Again, there's a contingent of anime fans who somehow need their hobby to taken more seriously than it should be. They need it to be looked at as something more than kid's shows. Need it. So they try very hard to paint stuff like Naruto to be much more adult than it actually really is.
Hey, I've seen it in the Godzilla fandom from people who seem to have a problem with the fact that Godzilla's primary audience is children and completely disregard enjoyable films like Godzilla's Revenge on the grounds that this sort of stuff isn't what Godzilla's all about. Jokes on them when they learn that the producer and director of that film also produced and directed the first Godzilla movie, and basically created Godzilla in the first place.
But what do I know.
That sort of reminds me of a funny story I had with a classmate of mine in High School. It was around the time DBZ uncut was airing on CN. This kid made a claim that all Japanese cartoon are porn, hence why they are so popular and deemed adult. I called Bull on his statement due to him being a confirmed and repeated liar, treating all anime like it hentai, and the fact that he called it out on DBZ. I acknowledge Hentai's exsistance, that one of the few things I dislike about Anime in general, other than the fanbase that takes it way too seriously. But my classmate didn't know what he was talking about, since DBZ is pornographic in nature... HOW? Japan, like everywhere else in the world has some decency standards, and porn for the most part is censored in Japan.
There is no shame in liking something that is aimed towards a 6-11 demographic for me. I still enjoy alot of shows that are aimed towards that like SpongeBob, Avatar, Kim Possible, Chowder, Foster's and such. The only shows that I have shame in liking are some meant for preschooler, IE ones that are more EDU than tainment for my blood since it was meant to be strictly for children, unlike the ones I listed where some try to sneak in some more jokes that only an older audience could understand and get a laugh out of.
Yeah I mean, you have stuff like this and people still say it's for adults? *rolls eyes*
No! The people at McDonalds just don't understand just how important and adult Naruto really is. Sadly, they just don't get it. That commercial completely disrespects all anime.
Whoa...sorry...I had an out of fandom experience!
Exactly. To my knowledge McDonalds has always had a family/kid friendly setting with there Happy Meals over here, sure some of toys are from PG-13 movie, but none from R rated movie. I'm pretty sure that holds up internationally. After all in those ads, kids are more prominent than adults. From time to time McDonalds usually is a sponsor for an Anime, and that time it is usually from the anime being the toy used in their little "Happy Set" lines.
And now for something completely different: A tribute to the most important event in Toon Zone history.
Ah, good times.
How many times do you think he was dropped on his head as a baby?
