This is the voting thread for Round 1 of the Toonzone's 2018 "Battle of the Brackets" (for the 90's Animated Action Shows conference)!

Voting is simple: Just post which of the two contestants of the day you find to be more awesome! Please, no editing your posts, once your vote is cast, help simplify things for me and don't change it. So be sure you are certain which one you want to vote for when you post! Feel free to debate it amongst yourselves for a while before casting your votes, but remember: each match runs no more than 24 hours!

Men in Black was pretty fun, for the most part I enjoyed the animated version just as much as the movie.

Men in Black wins for me, I definitely watched it as much as I could, wherever I was at the time started airing.
I could never get into Beast Wars.

Beast Wars (never seen Men in Black, and Beast Wars gets really good once you reach season 2).

I'm going to go with Beast Wars, even though I'd probably say Men in Black as a kid. I couldn't take the concept of Beast Wars seriously as a kid, but I ended up giving it a shot a couple of years ago and saw why it's revered so well. Meanwhile, I haven't seen MIB in ages.

I don't remember much of either series, but I'll go with Beast Wars. I was never really into MIB and only saw bits of it on Kids' WB. I've heard better things about Beast Wars than the animated MIB series too.

I’m voting for Beast Wars solely because my brother was really into it when he was younger.

Please be aware that you are to only take the first season of Pokemon (aka "The Indigo League" story arc) into account when voting for Pokemon here. Season 2 (the Orange Islands) and onwards started airing in 2000. And arguably, the show never quite rivaled the phenomenon it was in 1998/1999.

And the show was much different by 2006 (when the broadcast rights shifted to Cartoon Network) and the 2010's onward. So don't go off of your thoughts on the series as a whole, here, you are voting for what Pokemon was like in the 90's alone (and to some people, that may be a positive, and to others, a negative).

Darkwing Duck fans, feel free to vote for Darkwing Duck. Just my two cents, but at the time, it was the culmination of the Disney "action/adventure" universe (which started with the late 80's "Duck Tales" and "Chip and Dale's Rescue Rangers", along with the early 90's "TaleSpin"), before "Goof Troop" came along and made things more full fledged "comedy" for Disney weekday afternoon cartoons.

The first season of Pokémon was okay for me, I was more interested in the Johto to Sinnoh seasons more. I will give this to Darkwing Duck since I really liked that show in it's run time, it was a good part of a Disney animation renaissance and it holds up quite nicely.

Darkwing Duck without question, even if I associate it more as a comedy.

I'm going to vote for Pokemon unsurprisingly. While I do feel like the Kanto portion of the original series is overrated and most of the other series are an improvement in different areas, it is still enjoyable to watch. I actually just finished rewatching the Kanto arc. I still have problems with it, but there are plenty of good episodes and it is fun to see where the anime began. I rewatch older series all the time on DVD and On Demand. Plus, I have a lot of fond memories of watching the show on Kids' WB. That might have happened more during the 2000's than when the show first premiered, but watching Pokemon premieres and reruns on Kids' WB was really special for me. It was often one of the few highlights of the day to come home from school and watch some Pokemon and Yu-Gi-Oh! reruns on Kids' WB.

I never saw Darkwing Duck when it premiered. I saw a couple of episodes a couple of years ago and it looked fun. I doubt that I'd vote for it over Pokemon even if I had seen more of the series. I really love Pokemon and the anime series, so there are few shows where I wouldn't choose to vote for it.
