RELEASE DATE: MAY 25, 2018
Board the Millennium Falcon and journey to a galaxy far, far away in Solo: A Star Wars Story, an all-new adventure with the most beloved scoundrel in the galaxy. Through a series of daring escapades deep within a dark and dangerous criminal underworld, Han Solo meets his mighty future copilot Chewbacca and encounters the notorious gambler Lando Calrissian, in a journey that will set the course of one of the Star Wars saga's most unlikely heroes.
Stand alone Star Wars movies are coming. Looks like Boba Fett The Movie can now become a reality.

. But as I've said, I'll see Jar Jar's Ewok Adventure on opening day at midnight before I EVER see Carbonite Is Forever :
Dude, I know you don't like Boba Fett, and I agree that he is extremely overrated, but seriously? I think a movie starring just about any other star wars character in existence would be better than one starring Jar Jar ('cept for maybe that Ziro the Hutt abomination from the Clone Wars). Sure, Boba Fett may have zero personality as seen in the movies, and as a villian wasn't even that effective, but at least he had a cool looking suit of armor and an even cooler ship. (the Gungans, on the other hand, are in my opinion one of the ugliest alien designs in Star Wars, and not in a good way) What's more, he wasn't shoved down our throats like Jar-Jar was (he appeared for like what, five minutes in Empire?), and he wasn't created solely with the intent of bringing kids into the movie theater. And as far as I'm concerned, a movie that sheds light on a blank slate character is at least a better idea than the lunacy of trying to make a movie about Han Solo without casting Harrison Ford in the role.

Overall though, I'd much rather they not make any spinnoffs at all and just focus on making a good new trilogy. Unfortunately, it seems Disney is going to ensure that the movies will no longer be the one part of the Star Wars franchise that isn't milked to death.

2/22: It's probably cause they seem to be in keeping of top secret info. We are getting alot of rumors like a Boba Fett and Han Solo cameo, that could be possible and kept under wrap. I really don't mind lack of info. I do mind if the film turns out bad or underwhelming. If there was a chance to be vocal about things that could have prevented, then I'd enjoy that small bit of participation.

3/8: Iger confirms what was already teased by Mayhew that Chewy will be in SOLO film:
