From a pure content perspective. Sure.
However, actually airing OP from the start is something very tricky. Here's the thing, a network wants their series to be easily accessible for whoever may be watching and keep them watching, and One Piece has gotten too big for it's own good. You would need to start somewhere after Thriller Bark to catch up and even then you'll need air it consistently to say nothing about all the things you missed before that to really get an idea of each character and the world.

As much as I love One Piece to bits, it's become too large and too much of a hassle for any network to air it and give it the respect it deserves and needs

No, One Piece is fine on Toonami and probably will return once the Funi dub catches up with the New World/timeskip stories.
Also the versions of Naruto on XD received more notable edits then on CN, and if there's one thing OP fans never want to experience again it is a heavily edited dub of the series.

No, it hasn't set sailed from US TV for good. It had two attempts actually, as the second attempt was more successful.

The show started on the Fox Box/4kids, where fan backlash was severe and the ratings/overall mess of the story they'd made didn't justify keeping it around.

Then it went to FUNimation, who attempted a PG edit of the show on Toonami back when it was still a daytime block. Said edit fell off the channel in fall 2008, while Cartoon Network was quietly preparing to pull all of Toonami. It's worth noting that Naruto got to stick around a bit longer, meaning that CN was likely more impressed with its performance then One Piece's.

The Toonami crew love One Piece so much they gave it another chance, running through another 177 episodes before deciding to pull the plug. DeMarco's official statement on the matter: "The cold hard fact is that One Piece is just not popular enough in the US to hold a good enough rating."

I really don't see Nicktoons or Disney XD wanting to air One Piece. It doesn't have much merchandise or a toyline aimed at children they could profit off of. The only chance I could see of One Piece returning is if the FUNimation Channel ever came back like FUNimation said it would in 2016. But right now we just have Toku, which loops Media Blasters' catalog of mediocre softcore porn and B-movies and has no interest in something like One Piece.

What Jason DeMarco said is pointless since One Piece has a popular fanbase in the US and the manga sells well there.

So, Media Blasters is not interested in One Piece?

Well, don't say that One Piece has sailed from USTV for good after three attempts because the show can still return one day.

Man, that reminds me just how much I miss Funimation Channel On Demand. I didn't like all of the series that they put up there, but I did like quite a few of them and I got to see series that I might not have seen otherwise. They have their own service now instead, but I miss it, especially when Toku was such a huge disappointing downgrade compared to Funimation Channel On Demand.

No, he has a point and I think he'd be more aware of how ratings work than we are. He wasn't say that One Piece isn't popular at all. It does have a strong fanbase considering the manga sales, Funimation was able to redub all of what 4Kids covered and the DVD still seem to be doing fine. The problem is that the series is not popular enough to keep it on the block. There are many factors as to why that happened, but One Piece has never had the popularity of DBZ or even Naruto in the U.S. It is still popular, but just not enough to where they could have kept it on the block.

I can't see One Piece airing on either Disney XD or Nicktoons. For starters, the series would have to have quite a bit of editing to air on either channel. Not really to the extent of the 4Kids dub, but it would still require some edits. Both channels are also more interested in toyetic series. Going to Nicktoons would be a far worse fate for One Piece given that they treat the channel as a place to toss aside their shows, as well as third party shows. Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc V already wrapped up in Japan, but because of the constant breaks, Nicktoons is just barely over halfway through the first season. It's really terrible.

While Disney XD does treat its third party shows better, I don't think that they'd be interested in One Piece. It wouldn't really fit on the channel and they didn't handle Shippuden all that well from what I've heard either.

Unless Toonami is able to get the series back or Funimation gets its Funimation Channel back, then I don't think we'll see One Piece on TV again. Admittedly, I don't think that's completely awful given that it is easy to watch the series through services like Crunchyroll and that might help to make the series more appealing to people. The pacing of the series is so slow that a weekly airing really doesn't help it in that regard.

If Funimation doesn't bring it back, why not Neon Alley?

Sent from my LG-H850 using Tapatalk
I'm not sure what you're talking about here. Funimation still has One Piece and I thought that Neon Alley basically failed anyway. There are still Neon Alley videos on Viz's website, but they just go to videos from Hulu instead. Besides that, even if Funimation could get the series on Neon Alley, that would still be more like an online distributor instead of bringing the series back to proper TV.

I don't think Neon Alley has failed since they now air new episodes of Sailor Moon Crystal plus if Funimation doesn't want to air new episodes though still involved in the dubbing, then I don't see why not and let's face it, the future of TV is online streaming after all.

Sailor Moon Crystal isn't currently airing new episodes, that series premiered on various other sites and Neon Alley isn't around anymore. I tried to go to its homepage and it just directed me to Viz Media's watch show page, so it failed and isn't around anymore technically.

I'm pretty sure it wasn't a matter of Funimation not wanting to air new episodes that caused One Piece to be taken off of Toonami. The ratings just weren't good enough, although I think I heard that there was some legal issues behind their decisions to remove the show too. Besides that, if you want One Piece on a streaming service, it's already there. I'm pretty sure new episodes are still uploaded to Crunchyroll and Funimation's website too. People can easily stream the series on their devices or onto their TV sets. There's no need to put it on Neon Alley even if it was still around because the series is already available on other streaming sites.

The reason why it folded wasn't because on whether it failed or not, but because it was redundant when Viz allowed their anime titles to be added on Hulu. Technically, it still exists but under the current name of Viz's watch show page.

How do you guys know for sure that if either Disney XD or Nicktoons aired the show they would use the 4kids version? Funimation is perfectly capable of editing their dub for tighter standsards.

I do appreciate that there are no "One Piece had its chance already" posts . I REALLY appreciate it.

I'd still say it wasn't successful given that they didn't bother to keep the name and I don't think it was generally received well either. Regardless, One Piece is still available on other streaming sites. If you want to watch One Piece, you don't have to pray for it to get another TV deal in order to do so.

Okay, I'll move on from this.
