What the heck? That was the last thing I was expecting.
Who's going to voice the Looney Tunes now? He did such a great job succeeding Mel Blanc.
No!!!, He will surely be missed, his roles were amazing, he did a fine job voicing the looney tunes characters, and Lou Pickles in Rugrats, and especially Santa in elfbowling, man he surely will be missed, he was a good voice actor.
This is so sad....cancer sucks .
RIP Mr. Laskey. Thank you for all the amazing roles you worked on over your career. You will be missed.
Don't forget that he also played Thomas Timberwolf and Plucky Duck.
Now, if Nickelodeon and Klasky-Csupo ever decide to revive Rugrats again, they should find a new voice actor for Grandpa Lou.
Aw geez, not Mel Blanc 2! Where are we going to find Mel Blanc 3??
Below me there's a link to an old TZ interview with Alaskey himself. Just in case it doesn't show up for you....
Blanc voiced Bugs Bunny, Porky Pig and Tweety in Who Framed Roger Rabbit but decided that Yosemite Sam was too taxing on his throat so Alaskey spoke for that character and also for Foghorn Leghorn in a deleted sequence.
First I've ever heard of this!
I'm becoming very annoyed with the very existence of cancer
Jeff Bergman will keep voicing Bugs and Daffy. He was originally the voice of those characters when Mel Blanc died. Sometime in the mid-1990s, the voice work for the characters was given to Joe Alaskey (and sometimes Billy West), and he voiced them until The Looney Tunes Show came out, which had Jeff Bergman reassume the roles.
More to the point, you will be missed Joe Alaskey.
I agree with SweetShop209. Jeff Bergman still voices Bugs and Daffy. But now, who's going to voice Sylvester and Tweety?
When The Looney Tunes Show came around, Joe Alaskey gave up all his roles. Jeff Bergman got back his roles while Sylvester and Tweety were recast with different actors. Whoever played them could reassume the roles in future Looney Tunes projects.
Aw Man! That's Sad To Hear. I Remember Watching Rugrats And He Did A Good Job As Grandpa Lou. Eif Bowling Was Pretty Bad, But Job Alskey As Santa And Tom Kenny Were The Only Good Things About This Movie.
But I Will Miss Him, RIP.
Farewell, Mr. Alaskey. The world has lost a great talent.
Alaskey wasn't the only Mel Blanc successor to pass away. There were Frank Gorshin and Greg Burson.
Never met Joe but he answered one of my questions on the forums once. That's something that was really cool about TZ back in the day- creators and VAs would converse with the fans.
We've lost one of the best modern day voice actors, for sure.
He was a pretty good replacement for Grandpa Lou but it was his Looney Tunes work that I loved about him.
It's official we need to do something about cancer NOW.
No, Bergman voiced Sylvester and Tweety in TLTS.
Another victim of the Big C. Why Daffy, why!?
Jeff Bergman has been voicing him since 2011, so I guess he will. He makes a pretty good Daffy.
Tell me about it. I lost my father to it, and all of my favourite actors/actresses are dying from it too.
Talk about unexpected, I wonder if Alaskey's cancer had anything to do with why he hasn't been much active since after 2008 or so. He sure as heck will be missed, RIP.
You know something if you hear him in Lego Batman 3 as the Green Loontern you could tell he wasn't as upbeat as he was before.
He nailed Plucky's voice by making him sound like his own character and not a Daffy clone.
