I think they said something like that too, But I also remember them saying he was going to be some sort of conduit. It seems like they had two directions that they ultimately didn't go with.

At the time I think they were pretty adamant to not have Batman's supporting characters show up, they wanted it strictly be a JL show. It wasn't until JLU that they gave a bunch of fanboy nods.

It's strange how fan talk works. I was totally convinced that Wild Cards would be a Gotham Knights spotlight, and yet clearly I was in the minority there...while others here were convinced that Superman was really going to die in Hereafter, and that subsequent episodes wouldn't be featuring him...and yet I missed that entire rumor discussion...

That bit about the Key is really, really cool and I never even considered it, despite priding myself on being observant. I personally would have preferred some more closure on the Brainiac front. "We Are Legion" started the third (5th?) season up in a big way, and I liked it. But shortly thereafter, things kinda changed. Brainiac ultimately never really was settled...

    What do ya mean?

He got fused with Darkseid, then Darkseid and Luthor used the anti-life equation and exploded/ascended/went to Disney World.

Recent interviews confirmed that the creative team did not write Darkseid as having been fused with Brainiac. He's simply wearing a Kiss costume. Seriously. I can't believe it either, but that's the explanation.

    Cute with the Disney World.

What are you talking about, there was one interview that said that and Bruce Timm himself stated it was Darkseid and Brainiac fused. Im gonna go with the big cheese of the show over anyone who worked on it. Besides it seemed obvious to everyone( well almost everyone) that they fused.

for the record, i think matt's either mistaken, mis-remembering or just messin' with y'all --- i thought it was pretty well implied that at least SOME of brainiac's matter got fused with darkseid's when he was re-configured and resurrected....that's how i interpreted it, anyway, and used that to justify designing some spiffier threads for darkseid, which i'd been tempted to do for years anyway.... for my part, the jazzed-up costume IS meant to represent a "new and improved" darkseid, suggesting a vaguely-defined fusion with brainiac, along with a slight "power upgrade" (that line from "destroyer" about ds being "more powerful than i've ever been")....

    Oopsie. My bad.

    Selina Kyle creating Terry McGinnis.

I always wanted to know what happened to Selina.

Joker/Harley cameo in "This Little Piggy".

    That would have been hilarious.

nightwing only had a TINY cameo in the original premise...

    short version:
barbara gets injured, batman says "rest up, get well, NO CRIME-FIGHTING, YOUNG LADY" -- she's not just in a wheelchair, she's in traction -- barbara gets restless, defies batman's orders and starts working on this week's nefarious plot on her computer (some nonsense about kirk langstrom creating an army of man-bats) -- she realizes she needs "mobile" help, calls dick grayson -- cut to dick's apartment, where he's making out like crazy with some gorgeous new gal, the phone rings and rings and rings, he distractedly picks up the phone (still making out), barbara starts to talk, he doesn't even hear her, just drops the phone back on the cradle, barbara gives her phone the stink-eye and growls, "DICK!"

(at which point barbara recruits black canary and huntress to be her "field agents" and she herself assumes a temporary "oracle"-type role -- the army of man-bats gets their butts soundly kicked, yada yada yada....and for the record, gail simone had nothing whatsoever to do with that version of the story....all in all, "double date" is a MUCH better story)

    Thanks b.t. for the information!

I agree, "Double Date" is a much better episode than that.

Had that episode actually been produced, Dick's small appearance (in a bed, making-out with some random no-name girl) would of been kinda pointless. It seemed to be written just as a joke.

I don't like the idea of Kirk Langstrom creating an army of Man-Bats. According to the B:TAS episodes featuring Langstrom, he seemed more like a man obsessed with his work than an actual villain bent on destruction. So him creating an army of man-bats to do nefarious deeds seems out of character. Besides, in the second Man-Bat episode, Kirk wasn't even the villain anymore. It was his wife, and Kirk seemed to be rid of the desire to transform into a bat.

    Double Date! Woohoo!

Agreed. I like the BOP idea quite a bit, even the Dick joke (mainly because Dick's name is a joke, one that could never really be played up), but the army of Man-Bats sound lame-o. Double Date really went a smarter route.

Still...seeing Babs again...actually after having read that, there would have been no progression on the Bruce/Babs storyline. So no loss. Why couldn't anyone have actually written something about that? Why keep the biggest love story of Batman's life so in the closet?

That was the Batgirl JLU episode? Geez, now I don't feel so bad that it was never made. To be quite honest, the whole thing sounds awful. Barb being incapacitated and working on a case isn't a bad premise, but... an army of man-bats? Dick's cameo involving a make-out session? Sounds like bad fanfiction. :ack:

A brief Batworld episode could've been about something better. Like the deepening of the Bruce/Barb relationship, or the Legion of Sidekicks getting involved in Batman's Cadmus investigation, or... well, just about anything besides an army of man-bats.

Batgirl fell under the embargo umbrella.

:p That I know! I was wondering why, embargo aside, this significant storyline was never dealt with on-screen in any of the DCAU shows,

On the BB season 3 DVD, it was revelaed that Terry was at one time scripted to miss his date with Dana in "Rats". Dana then dumps him, and while consoling him, apparently Terry and Max make out or something.

actually, that was never a part of "rats!", it was a whole nuther episode that didn't get made...it was intended to counter-act the "terry ditches dana to fight crime" trend, (see "splicers" as well as "rats!")....

murakami-san's idea was to throw a bunch of crime-fightin' obstacles in terry's way as he tries to keep his date with dana, but he actually does get there on time at the end...alan burnett wanted to change the story so that terry DOESN'T get there on time, dana dumps him, and terry ends up with max on the rebound....since we couldn't agree on it, we just killed the story dead....

I've had a curiosity about the Specter. For one, I heard that he was suppose to appear in a Superman Christmas episode, so what's the story there? Also, did he make a cameo in "The Once and Future Thing" is the ominous hand in the swirling protouniverse?
