I really like the new designs - and not just because they're even more anime-like then before, honest! I just think the new designs are very streamlined, in a good way.

Pretty sure Hunnam and Pearlman dropped when GDT was out.

No, actually Hunnam wasn't interested in returning for the sequel since he wanted to do other stuff instead not because Guillermo del Toro left as director.

I'm sure, but guess who probably got him that job anyway? The guy who's GDT directors pet. If he ain't coming back neither is Hunnam; I am no fan of him anyways, since not sure he's very good at all. I would love to be wrong on Pearlman making at least a cameo.

His reason for his departure wasn't because of del Toro departing as director. Instead, he chose to do The Lost City of Z and King Arthur: Legend of the Sword than reprising his role. He really wasn't interested in reprising his role. Unlike Perlman, Hunnam only collaborated on two films: Pacific Rim and Crimson Peak.

Here's an article on his departure: https://www.comingsoon.net/movies/news/705963-pacific-rim-2-charlie-hunnam-not-coming-back/amp

Like you, I still hope Perlman does reprise his role for the film, even if in a smaller role.

This could either be really good or a big disaster. Usually the marks of bad sequels are the ones where they completely throw out the original cast and replace them.

I'm pretty sure that Kikuchi, Gorman and Day are returning for the sequel.

Yes. This has all the makings of a DTV sequel.

Wasn't amazing or anything but loved it. I like the little dig on CBM genre. Looking forward to whatever is next.

Boyega teased the enemy has grown more intelligent and has a different way of doing things, there is a rouge character. He also confirmed his character rejoins the PPDC and the Jaegers have since gotten better upgrades.
