Loved the guest appearences. Best joke: "Should've got rid of that minefield."

Was the Ghost of Christmas Future Mechakara?

I'm surprised you didn't comment on "You baaa-stard."

"Troll" is like some kind of lame Wolverine/Lobo hybrid. Actually, forget "like" -- he was probably pitched as such.

Every comic book company has their own version of Circe. I guess they just like the Odyssey. The bald former sheep, I have to say, is my least favorite.
By the way, I've seen magic deflected by mirrors many times in literature. I thought it was common knowledge that was supposed to work.

This is a good idea: using the holiday season as an excuse to recommend good comics. Really, there's no other time of the year when it'd properly fit, and using your influence to promote stuff that needs the sales is what I'D do.

Calling any comic book "mainstream" is an oxymoron. The only thing on Linkara's list that looked half-interesting was Rapunzel's Revenge, and he claims that's for kids. What if books were run this way? What if all they ever printed were Doctor Who novelizations or something? Why would anyone other than geeks be interested in books then?

Someday, the smart inventive world of indie will topple the tyranny of the Repetitive Brutish Booby-Filled Redneck Big Two. Until then, all we can do is pray.

I like your positive stuff, Linkara. It's a nice break from slagging off the trash heap and praising that which needs to be praised.

I'm not saying the negative stuff isn't good, but it's nice to have a break once in a while.

Being the geek I am I would have bought up the Highlander anime in comparison to that terrible kids toon in his opening monologue (isn't the whole show technically a monologue, or at least a stand up routine?), but that's a nitpick more than a genuine valid complaint. Everything else seems spot on.

I feel sorry for everyone who had money invested in "James Bond Jr." It was a trememdous misfire; everybody I knew at school and elsewhere hated it.

I liked how he thought it looked like Wheeler too. As soon as I saw that one panel I had to do a double take just to make sure it wasn't Wheeler. I didn't even know that this show was a comic as well. Did any of those other shows like Conan and Highlander have tie in comics as well?

I think it's kind of funny he used the X Men pilot to differenciate between the quality of animation. It's no prize and it's mistake riddled but man James Bond Jr looked way worse.

I was kinda' hoping for a joke about Odd Job trying (and failing) at the Sir Mix-a-Lot look; oh well. I can just imaging when he's not actively henching he's sitting in the car or truck or tank with a pair of headphones on jamming out to "Put 'Em On the Glass".
And once that image enters your mind what's next? Jaws in a bad copy of M.C. Hammer's outfit doing his rendition of the "U Can't Touch This" dance?

I actually owned two issues of James Bond, Jr. Still have them around somewhere, I think. Never thought very highly of them, but that didn't stop me from reading them when I was bored. I do remember easily noticing the horrible coloring mistakes, and from the look of the scans in this video, it was something that plagued the entire series.

Nice review. What clinched it was the West Wing clip at the end. Bravo, Linkara.

I think I'm one of the two people that enjoyed "James Bond Jr." back in the day. I watched a couple of episodes on youtube recently and man has it aged poorly. The puns and all just come off as lame and boring.

The comic just wasn't that interesting, which is why I think that apology was there at the end. It wasn't even infamously bad, it was just poor.

At least we got Warrior Spoony to show up, so that's a definite plus.

That's probably my favorite title card so far.

Considering were the comic comes from it renews hope for a 'Linkin'-up with Linkara' in the future:p
