For ten years after its release, the FBI were convinced that Frank Capra's classic It's a Wonderful Life was Communist propaganda.

All because the biggest jerk in the entire film was a capitalist banker.

Never mind that George Bailey was a banker as well.

I learned that in the Japanese version of the Pokémon anime, Gary shares a first name with Shigeru Miyamoto.

    I'll just leave this here.

It's a weird day. Besides this, I've heard a recent thing about women sitting inside claw machines in Taiwan and that Michael Jackson tried to buy Marvel in the '90s.

The song La Llorona in the movie Coco was not an original song written for the movie. It was originally sung by Chavela Vargas.

    1) The "Dogs Playing Poker" painting's in the public domain; it was first published before 1920.
    2) It's part of a series, so there's actually more than one. All were published before the 20's and should be in the public domain.

I never would have guessed that they existed before Prohibition.

The last 747 Pan Am's creditors sold off was also the 1st 747 ever produced:

The 747 in the above video was used as a restaurant till 2005, when it was supposedly scrapped. The author of the article I linked to found out part of it had been saved and is being converted to a church. Also, it may have been the 2nd 747 completed, not the 1st.

I learned that by the time PL Travers wrote the last Mary Poppins story, Mary Poppins and the House Next Door, the movie had come to VHS three or four times.

While watching a title card compilation for Jimmy Neutron, I learned that Butch Hartman wrote an episode, "See Jimmy Run".

Pokemon Blue had a really awesome tune when you battle your rival for the last time:

Always wondered why it wasn't used in the Anime. Turns out it was. They used it every episode; I just couldn't recognize it. Listen closely:

Today I learned the guy who wrote the Pokemon theme song also wrote the theme to those "LEGO Mania" commercials, as well as the "Subway -- Eat Fresh!" jingle.

I learned that Jim Cummings' real voice doesn't sound like Pete, and that I still want to cringe whenever John Lasseter appears in old-ish Disney promos.

There was a Bathroom Reader book published around 2000 and in it there was a blurb about a day where you had to not watch TV or something. That date turned out to be 9/11. Good thing most people didn't listen!

They said in a later book that in a previous book they said that 9/11 is "No News Is Good News Day."

I learned that in a private conversation on this forum, the button that appears to let you save a draft for a reply doesn't really do so - now I might have to write it from scratch again.
