One I love is in a "Yogi's Treasure Hunt" episode in which Top Cat tells Yogi and the others about a bomb. Doggie Daddy then says, "Big deal! Most of the jokes in this show are bombs!"

Chowder will forever be one of the undisputed kings of fourth-wall breaking for me.

Brilliant and funny--truly an amazing gem of a cartoon that came out during one of CN's darkest eras.

Sheep in the Big City also did it well, they were joking at the show's structure often.

One I like was in the Gumball episode about dreams. The chin puppet character (Susie?) has a dream where she was a live action human.

Rick and Morty comes to my mind, along with Animaniacs, Looney Tunes and recent Spiderman shows.

"Littlest Pet Shop" had an incredible one in the episode "Room Enough".

Set-up: A kitten named Meow-Meow spends a day at the shop. The pets go about their day, with Meow-Meow constantly asking "Why?", which drives them crazy. This leads to a discussion as to how Blythe gained the ability to talk to and understand animals. The pets argue about their crazy theories, but they notice that Meow-Meow isn't asking why. They look for him and they react in shock to something off-screen. Minka gives the camera a look and physically shifts it toward the dumb-waiter (where Meow-Meow wandered to). Cracks me up every time.

I already mentioned it in the Chowder thread (and it's probably in that video montage posted above), but "NO MONEY MEANS, NO ANIMATION!" still makes me chortle to this day just thinking about it. It went really off the rails.

Fourth Wall jokes can be really funny if done right, Ed Edd n Eddy has many good ones, but when it’s done wrong it can be really obnoxious *cough* Chowder *cough*.

So,e good ones off the top of my head:

Grim Adventures (Bill and Mandy moon the Moon): “This looks like the kind of thing that can’t be solved in 11 minutes.”

Ed Edd n Eddy (If it smells like an Ed): Ed: “I should have the feeling back in my feet after this word from our sponsors.” Edd: “Curse broadcast commercialism!”

All Hail King Julien (One More Cup): Julien: “Timo, I require a tool for my beans.” Timo: “Huh?” Maurice: “It’s his show, I’m just the co-star.”

Phineas and Ferb (Intro) Candace: “Mom! Phineas and Ferb are making a title sequence!”

Just about any fourth wall joke from the theatrical days. Yes, I know that they don't translate to TV very well, but you gotta admit they're clever. My three favorite types:

Running off the film (Northwest Hounded Police, MGM)
The Lucky Film Break (My Favorite Duck, WB/1942; Rabbit Punch, WB/1947; Goonland, Fleischer/1938)
The Audience Gag (Daffy Duck and Egghead, Thugs with Dirty Mugs, Hare Raising Hare, Rabbit Every Monday)
    The Hair-in-the-Projector Gag (Magical Maestro)

I hate fourth wall jokes. They break the reality of the situation. I think the only way to get away with fourth wall jokes is if the show is secretly terrible. Family Guy is pretty much the only cartoon with fourth wall jokes that I tolerate for that reason. Because deep down, Family Guy knows it sucks, and always has sucked, and the jokes tend to be at the expense of the fandom's various "So random!" low standards. I don't mind Family Guy telling me I'm a stupid idiot slacker for watching their show, because on some level, I am.

There's a Space Ghost: Coast to Coast episode that's presented as an internal video meant to be distributed to advertisers that has to be seen to be believed. There's also "Table Read" which takes breaking the fourth wall to the extreme: a live-action script reading by the writers and VAs. To this day I can't believe they just put that out there with no setup or explanation.

Another one that's funny (and appreciated) is when Homer shows "us" a picture of various things (I forgot what they were and which episode this occurred in) and then asks "us" if we've seen them all.:lol:

If it counts, I like the Garfield and Friends episode "Mistakes Will Happen". It's one where Garfield tells the viewer to look for the one mistake in the episode, but it is replete with deliberate animation errors, wrong character voice dubs, bad storytelling, wrong sound effects, etc.

Another favorite of mine was the episode where Garfield wakes up and finds out he’s in the wrong cartoon: some action sci-fi series, with realistic looking people and transforming robots!

Mark Evanier does not get enough credit for Garfield and Friends. The Garfield comic strip? Lame. Garfield and Friends? Genius. Even the terrible U.S. Acres stuff was funnier than the Garfield strip.

"HE'S STEALING MY MERCHANDISING!"-another great one from Garfield and Friends, when Garfield dreams about a cat who's copying him in every way comes out with a line of plush dolls with suction cups you can put on car windows

Any time when the fourth wall is broken for the right reason and not on purpose/non-stop.
