As there was a launch day schedule for Disney Junior above, I have a few questions to ask:

  • Again, this MAY/MAY NOT be the regular schedule, but isn't Octonauts supposed to join the channel lineup?
  • Now I know most people made a bet about Lilo & Stitch returning, but why isn't on Disney Channel instead?
  • Why is The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh not joining the lineup? (once again, I do not know if this is the regular schedule) It's meant for preschoolers and Pooh is a friendly guy to everyone; including youngsters.
  • Is Disney Junior going to be ad-free?
  • Are there going to be TV-G rated shows on the channel? TV-G isn't meant for youngsters; it's meant for families (ages 5 & up).
  • Will the Disney Junior block be shortened? There is no need for a longer block, after all there's always the channel.
  • And lastly, should My Friends Tigger and Pooh join the lineup? Kinda miss that show a bit. Plus, Junior is returning some unnoticeable PD shows.
Looking forward for the Disney Junior channel. Hope it would be a success. :)

Now I know most people made a bet about Lilo & Stitch returning, but why isn't on Disney Channel instead? You see, Disney Junior is for preschoolers and Stitch isn't really meant for preschoolers, because of its mild peril and violence. But since its mostly popular with youngsters, I guess I don't mind seeing Stitch. In fact, I'll be excited!
I guess Pogorikifan24 called this one on the other thread. But look at it this way, if this show was able to make airing time on Disney Junior channel, who knows what else could end up on this channel. Shows like House of Mouse or even Goof Troop may not be as far of reach for this channel than I previously thought.

Why is The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh not joining the lineup? (once again, I do not know if this is the regular schedule) It's meant for preschoolers and Pooh is a friendly guy to everyone; including youngsters.
That surprised me too, honestly. But after all, this is the launch schedule, so Disney will be playing around with their preschool channel's lineup for quite a bit. We can bet that Pooh will make the lineup in the long run, whether it'll be simply added to that block of 'old' shows or replacing one of them (hopefully the former).

Will the Disney Junior block be shortened? There is no need for a longer block, after all there's always the channel.
Most likely it would, shortened on the weekdays with no preschool shows airing Saturdays and Sundays. It would make sense, at least that's what Nick does that with their preschool shows (weekdays 9AM-2PM, nothing on weekends), so Disney may follow that.

Good to see some older 90's shows made the final cut. Though I still see shows like Aladdin, House of Mouse, Mickey's Mouseworks and maybe a Disney Afternoon show airing on the network.

Now can we please get a Retro Disney channel. :D

Unfortunately, from a business perspective, a Retro Disney channel is out of the question right now. What IS possible though is if these shows get decent ratings, then Disney may add more and more shows as time goes by, creating an overnight 'retro' block on Disney Junior. So in other words, watch what Disney has to offer now in terms of these old reruns, if you want to see more added on the lineup. I mentioned this in the other Disney Junior thread, but I personally hope it would eventually lead to the FULL classic Disney shorts to air in some form, if/when that day comes, I won't ask anything else from their channels.

Well, it's good news that Timon & Pumbaa are coming back to broadcast when Disney Junior becomes its own channel. :donald: The bad news is that it's going to be on at 6:00 AM, and when I turn on the Dish 322 dual-tuner reciever's TV 2 mode, it wakes my Mom up. She's got class mostly every morning, and he doesn't like it when the blue light on the reciever is on while she's sleeping. And more bad news is that it's still not probably going to be on Dish anyway.

A Retro Disney channel, huh?; Now this is one of those channels you call it a 'want'. Disney currently has no interest nor any money to create a fifth children's channel. 90s fans can either buy Disney Afternoon DVDs, watch the upcoming Disney Junior channel for late night/early morning classics like Jungle Cubs or watch some of the Disney Afternoon classics on iTunes.

But the Retro Disney channel can work as a programming block on either Disney Channel or ABC Family, otherwise, a full 24-hour network airing old Disney shows is out of the question.

They should expand the late night non-Jr. fare to start around 10pm or earlier. Then play family friendly shows from the vault overnights and maybe even prime time.

I get that parents want a channel that's safe 24/7 in case baby wakes up in the middle of the night, but they could make overnights more of an "all viewers" time and run nostalgic shows as well as Disney Channel originals that no longer get air time.

One step at a time, getting that 'block' of old shows is the first step, all we need to do is show Disney that we will watch what they reair, then Disney Junior will add more shows to their lineup.

Honestly, I think a Disney Afternoon show for the most part (like DuckTales or even Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers, I can't say the same for Darkwing Duck or Bonkers unfortunately) has a MUCH better shot on being on this channel than shows like Kim Possible, Dave the Barbarian or even Recess (which would be more at home on Disney XD). Here's a list of shows I consider a possibility of airing on this channel:

Classic Disney Shorts
DuckTales
Jungle Cubs (confirmed)
The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh (inevitable)
Disney’s Adventures of the Gummi Bears
Aladdin
101 Dalmatians: The Series (confirmed)
The Little Mermaid (confirmed)
The Lion King’s Timon and Pumbaa (confirmed)
Muppet Babies
Lilo and Stitch: The Series (confirmed)
House of Mouse
TaleSpin
Chip n Dale Rescue Rangers

What!? Since when??

As far as I know, the ONLY way to see these shows legally is to buy the DVDs, which are very difficult to find and aren't complete sets.

The day TaleSpin is available on ITunes or any other VOD service, I'll buy hundred of episodes over and over again :D

But seeing the show aired on that new channel would definitely be better than nothing, as it's a show that can really be appreciated for little and adults alike.
