Opening theme: ”JoJo Sono Chi no Kioku ~end of THE WORLD~” by JO☆STARS Ending theme: “Last Train Home” by The Pat Metheny Group Characters Spoiler Jotaro Kujo Voiced by: Matthew Mercer Stand: Star Platinum Ability: Strength and Precision Stats: Destructive Power - A / Speed - A / Range - C / Durability - A / Precision - A / Developmental Potential - A Namesake: The Star (tarot card) Joseph’s grandson, Jotaro isn’t one for displaying his emotions and is a man of few words, but deep down has a gentle heart and will protect anybody close to him, especially if he has to beat the crap out of someone. Recently, he gained a mysterious power known as a Stand; Star Platinum is one of the most powerful Stands around, possessing incredible precision, speed, and strength. With his Stand, Star Platinum, he’s now on a journey across Egypt to take down DIO and save his mother. Joseph Joestar Voiced by: Richard Epcar Stand: Hermit Purple Ability: Divination and Hamon Stats: Destructive Power - D / Speed - C / Range - D / Durability - A / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - E Namesake: The Hermit (tarot card) Joseph Joestar once saved the world nearly 50 years ago, but since then retired from his Hamon training and became a real estate tycoon in America. However, after gaining his Stand, he sprung back into action once discovering that the evil DIO, who had taken his grandfather’s life, had reemerged from his hundred-year slumber. Alongside his grandson Jotaro, his friend Avdol, high schooler Kakyoin, Frenchman Polnareff, and a hotheaded dog named Iggy, Joseph is now in a race against time to defeat DIO and remove the curse afflicting his daughter Holly. Joseph’s Stand allows him to use spirit photography to help guide the Crusaders on their journey, as well as enhance his own Hamon abilities. Muhammad Avdol Voiced by: Chris Tergliafera Stand: Magician’s Red Ability: Fire Manipulation Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - B / Range - C / Durability - B / Precision - C / Developmental Potential - D Namesakes: Paula Abdul (Singer) / The Magician (Tarot card) Joseph’s Egyptian friend, Avdol was the voice of reason and a rather serious individual. He possessed a strong sense of loyalty and duty, determined to eliminate DIO and his minions, while helping the Joestars any way possible using his worldly knowledge. Unlike Joseph and Jotaro, Avdol was born with his Stand, Magician’s Red and thus had essentially mastered its abilities, the power to command fire. Avdol’s life was cut short shortly after the Crusaders reached DIO’s mansion in Cairo; While wandering the halls searching for DIO, Avdol came across a message saying that anyone who turned around would die. He turned around and saw the haunting image of the stand Cream materializing behind them; Quickly pushing Polnareff and Iggy out of the way, Cream devoured Avdol’s body into the endless void within his mouth, killing the man instantly. Noriaki Kakyoin Voiced by: Kyle Hebert Stand: Hierophant Green Abilities: Coiled body, marionette control, and Emerald Splash Stats: Destructive Power - C / Speed - B / Range - A / Durability - B / Precision - C / Developmental Potential - D Namesakes: Kakyoin (neighborhood in Sendai, Japan) / The Hierophant (tarot card) Kakyoin originally worked for DIO, having been brainwashed by the vampire while on a family trip to Egypt, but was saved by Jotaro. Being a righteous individual determined to rid the world of evil and to repay his debt to Jotaro, Kakyoin joined the quest to defeat DIO. Kakyoin possesses a stand that can unravel itself like rope and fire emerald-like projectiles. After an encounter with the enemy shortly after arriving in Egypt, Kakyoin’s eyes were injured and he was taken out of commission for a while. However, thanks to the Speedwagon Foundation, he has recovered and is back to help them defeat DIO once and for all. Jean Pierre Polnareff Voiced by: Doug Erholtz Stand: Silver Chariot Abilities: Speed and sword combat Stats: Destructive Power - C / Speed - A / Range - C / Durability - B / Precision - B / Developmental Potential - C Namesakes: Jean-Paul Belmondo (actor) / Michel Polnareff (musician) / The Chariot (tarot card) Polnareff is a chivalrous Frenchman who met the Crusaders in Hong Kong. He was initially a minion of DIO but, like Kakyoin, was rescued from the brainwashing that had been placed on him. He had joined the group to avenge his sister, who was killed by the evil Stand user Centerfold. But after defeating his target, he continues onward with them across Egypt to end DIO’s evil reign and ensure no one else has to suffer. His Stand, Silver Chariot, is able to attack its enemies with high-speed swordplay. Iggy Voiced by: Derek Stephen Prince Stand: The Fool Abilities: Sand Manifestation Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - C / Range - D / Durability - C / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - C Namesakes: Iggy Pop (singer) / The Fool (tarot card) Found by Avdol on the streets of New York City, Iggy is an antisocial Boston Terrier with a bad attitude. He has a high opinion of himself, believing himself to be smarter than humans and as such is rather rude to them, only choosing to obey if provided with his favorite treat, coffee flavored gum. His Stand, The Fool, is indeed a menacing one, able to control sand to either throw at enemies with great force or form into solid complex shapes, defaulting to a quadruped creature with wheels for back legs and a tribal mask for a face. Iggy is independent and distrusting of humans, so he was initially unwilling to help the Crusaders; However, an attack from DIO’s pet bird opened his eyes, and now he’s determined to aid them in bringing down DIO. Cool Ice (Japanese name: Vanilla Ice) Voiced by: Jalen K. Cassell Stand: Cream Ability: Void Stats: Destructive Power - B / Speed - B / Range - D / Durability - C / Precision - C / Developmental Potential - D Namesakes: Vanilla Ice (rapper) / Cream (British band) / Cool as Ice (Vanilla Ice song/film) Cool Ice is DIO’s bodyguard and one of his most devout followers, normally a calm (somewhat absent-minded) individual, but will turn angry in an instant if anyone shows disrespect towards his master. His loyalty is so strong than when DIO said he desired blood, Cool Ice decapitated himself over an urn without hesitation to give his master a drink (subsequently being revived by DIO’s vampiric essence). Cool Ice also has one of the most dangerous Stands within DIO’s arsenal, the terrifying Cream, a Stand which possesses portal within its mouth, leading to an endless void contained within another dimension. With this portal, Cream can cleanly disintegrate anything it devours in the blink of an eye. It can also devour Cool Ice (unharmed) and itself to travel as a floating ball of nothingness, allowing them to travel virtually undetected and sneak up on their victims, the downside being that Cool Ice can’t see anything while traveling in this form. Billie Jean (Japanese name: Kenny G.) Stand: Tenore Sax Ability: Illusion Stats: Destructive Power - E / Speed - E / Range - D / Durability - A / Precision - E / Developmental Potential - E Namesakes: Kenny G. (American saxophonist) / Tenor Sax (musical instrument) / Billie Jean (Michael Jackson song) As a way to create an impossibly large labyrinth within his mansion in order to delay the Crusaders, DIO employed Billie Jean, a short man with a Stand ability to create illusions. This Stand was able to create illusions so convincing that they felt realistic, such as the tropical island within D’Arby’s room in the basement, which came complete with water that felt real to the touch. However, Billie Jean was quickly defeated after he was detected by Avdol, at which point he was killed in a single slash by Iggy, dissipating the illusion and returning the mansion to its natural form. Telence T. D’Arby Voiced by: Xander Mobus Stand: Atum Abilities: Soul Steal / Binary Soul Reading Stats: Destructive Power - D / Speed - C / Range - D / Durability - B / Precision - D / Developmental Potential - D Namesakes: Terence Trent D’Arby (singer) / Atum (Egyptian god of creation) Telence T. D’Arby is DIO’s butler, a calm and collected individual with the ability to predict his opponent’s movements through essentially a lie detector, but with a violent temper when provoked. The younger brother of Daniel D’Arby, Telence shares many similarities with his brother, such as his love of games and his secondary ability to steal the souls of those he wins against. However, instead of table games, Telence prefers video games, and instead of poker chips, he stores the souls he collects within custom-made dolls (a hobby of his). Telence, also unlike his brother, doesn’t rely on cheating to defeat his opponents, preferring to use his gaming skills and intelligence to intimidate them into giving up. However, much like his brother, Telence was defeated through bluffing; suspecting Jotaro of cheating at a baseball video game, he questioned him but noticed Jotaro’s soul denied any sort of cheating. He lost his cool so much that his own soul ended up admitting defeat, and after it turned out that it was in fact Joseph using Hermit Purple to cheat the game, he was pummeled into submission by Star Platinum. DIO Voiced by: Patrick Seitz Stand: The World Abilities: Vampirism (DIO) / ??? (The World) Namesakes: DIO (Band) / The World (tarot card) In the early 1880’s, a lower-class orphan by the name of Dio Brando was taken in by the upper-class Joestar family. With resentment for those of higher social status than him, Dio spent the next 7 years planning to take out the heir to the Joestar family, Jonathan Joestar, and claim its fortune. However, caught at a critical time in his plan, Dio used an ancient artifact the Joestars owned to become a vampire and began a new plot for world domination. Jonathan, along his friends, fought back against Dio, ending in a confrontation on a ship in the middle of the Atlantic which cost Jonathan’s life and sent Dio to a supposed watery grave. However, nearly a hundred years later, he was recovered by an unsuspecting group of treasure hunters, and given life anew in the modern age! Having gained possession of a mysterious Stand ability, the being now known simply as “DIO” wraps his insidious grasp around the world through agents also possessing Stands, in the resurrection of his plot to end the Joestar bloodline and dominate humanity! While DIO has access to a Hermit Purple like Stand which allows him to monitor the progress of the Crusaders, this Stand in fact belongs to Jonathan’s body. DIO’s own Stand, which Kakyoin determined (by process of elimination of the tarot cards) is named “The World”, has an unknown power which is more mysterious and far more terrifying. Episode 43 (69) “The Miasma of the Void: Cool Ice, Part 2" Chapters adapted: 240-244 Previously on JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Spoiler D'Arby used Atum to peer into Jotaro's soul, which he used to determine whether Jotaro was lying or not. However, contrary to his deduction that Jotaro was not lying about his pitch, his pitches turned out to be different from expected. This lead D'Arby to suspect that Jotaro was cheating somehow, though in a way that cannot be deciphered by his Stand's reliance on yes/no questions. As D'Arby desperately tried to find out how Jotaro was cheating, Jotaro won more homeruns, resulting in D'Arby subconsciously admitting defeat and releasing Kakyoin's soul. At last, D'Arby discovered that Joseph was the one cheating on Jotaro's behalf the entire time, using Hermit Purple to control the video game while Jotaro handled Atum's questions. While Jotaro dished swift punishment to D'Arby, opening up a way out of the game room, DIO's right-hand man, Cool Ice, cut off his own head to provide DIO with the blood needed to complete his assimilation of Jonathan's body, but DIO turned it down and brought him back to life, stating he will get blood from someone else and sent him to attack the others. Meanwhile, Polnareff, Avdol, and Iggy ventured inside the mansion, where Iggy managed to immediately take down a Stand user named Billie Jean to stop the illusions he was creating. Immediately afterwards, however, Avdol was caught off guard and killed by Vanilla Ice's Stand, Cream, who disintegrated his body with the void inside his mouth, leaving Polnareff and Iggy stunned. Now: With Avdol dead, Polnareff and Iggy face off against Cool Ice. But can they fight an enemy who keeps disappearing?
