Because creativity frequently takes a backseat to greed in Hollywood, there can be little to no surprise that two mostly comedic films named “Chef” are being promoted at the Cannes Film Festival for future release. The first “Chef” film – let’s call it Chef Jose – is from Sony and stars Bradley Cooper as a bad boy Paris chef who lets his reputation go to his head a few too many times and eventually he crashes and burns in spectacular fashion before bringing himself back up for retribution, possibly with the help of Michelle Williams, Marion Cotillard and/or Omar Sy as co-stars.

The second “Chef” film – let’s call it Chef Boyardee – comes from Jon Favreau and stars him as a high-flying chef who gets fired and then tries to restart his career and re-connect with his family via a food truck business. Favreau also directs the film and has stunt-casted his mates Robert Downey, Jr. and Scarlett Johansson for as few scenes – along with Sofia Vergara and John Leguizamo.

Sony has issued a cease-and-desist order to Favreau’s production company for the sole use of the “Chef” title, but both “Chef” flicks – if saved from the Cannes grease fire – are expected to have late 2014 releases.
