The Walt Disney Company has announced the acquisition of 21st Century Fox in a $52.4 billion stock deal, bringing The Simpsons, the Ice Age franchise, and James Cameron’s Avatar under the same umbrella as Mickey Mouse, Star Wars, and Marvel. It also promises to bring Marvel’s X-Men, Fantastic Four, and Deadpool movie franchises in the same parent organization, assuming that the merger is approved by regulatory bodies. Not included in the acquisition are several broadcast and cable channels; prior to the acquisition, 21st Century Fox will spin off the Fox Broadcasting network and stations, Fox News Channel, Fox Business Network, FS1, FS2, and Big Ten Network into a newly listed company.

Currently working as a financial programmer in New York City, while continuing to discover all the wonderful little surprises (and expenses) of owning your a home in the suburbs. Shares the above with a beautiful, wonderful, and incredibly understanding wife named Frances (who, thankfully, participates in most of my silly hobbies) and a large furry dog named Brownie (who, sadly, does not).
