Craving old school Call of Duty gameplay? Activision heard you and made the latest game in the series a throwback. What awaits you under the green artwork?
If you feel like shooting down Nazis November is THE month, because after Wolfenstein II comes Call of Duty: WWII, a return to the series’ classic roots after a few detours into the future and into space. The single-player is a classic Allies vs. Axis tale and the multiplayer gets back to muddy run-and-gun basics. But just in case you think the franchise has become completely grounded once again, there is a “Nazi Zombies” mode in it somewhere.
This year’s CoD was put together by Sledgehammer Games, who did a large amount of research. Glen Schofield, Co-Founder and Studio Head, says “Call of Duty: WWII has been incredibly personal for us, with members of the Sledgehammer Games team and cast directly connected to World War II veterans. From the start, we committed ourselves to recreating the setting and locations, as well as years of research to make sure we captured the spirit and tone that players will experience.”

Call of Duty: WWII is out now for Playstation 4, XBox One and PC. Base edition is $60, the Pro Edition (which includes the Season Pass) is $99.99 and the Digital Deluxe Edition (which has the same content as the Pro edition but in digital form) is also $99. With the launch of Call of Duty: WWII, the Call of Duty World League (CWL) prepares for its biggest season yet with $4.2 million in total prize money on the line, the largest in Call of Duty esports history. Players can participate online in CWL Ladders at launch via the in-game MLG GameBattles mode on PlayStation 4 and earn CWL Pro Points, which determines seeding for online and offline leagues and events.
