WonderCon 2008 Round-Up: "New Frontier," "Clone Wars," and "WALL*E"
Several web sites are providing animation-related news and panel reports from this past weekend’s WonderCon, held at the Moscone Center in San Francisco, California.
Comic Book Resources and Newsarama both have reports about the Darwyn Cooke panel, where the writer/artist talked about The New Frontier as a graphic novel and the upcoming 75-minute direct-to-video movie, as well as his history in comics, and his work on DC’s The Spirit. Some of these reports may include spoilers for events in the movie.
Newsarama also has a panel report from the Disney Films panel, where WALL*E director Andrew Stanton appeared to show clips from the film and talked briefly about it, including why there is little to no dialog in the film and how Pixar regular John Ratzenberger can appear in such a dialog-free movie.
Lucasfilm’s Star Wars: Clone Wars animated series figured prominently in the Lucasfilm panel, which showed clips and a trailer for the Clone Wars movie and TV series, along with a video appearance by Robot Chicken creators Seth Green and Matthew Senreich. The trailer also made a brief appearance at the Warner Brothers panel.
