"Winx Club" Joins Nick, Gets New Eps
Nickelodeon is adding Winx Club to its lineup and will bankroll new seasons of the fairy-themed animated series, the network announced today.
The network has picked up US TV rights to the existing series and movies, along with pay-TV rights for Latin America, the UK, Australia, New Zealand, and Benelux. It has also secured all merchandising rights to the series in the aforementioned territories.
Nickelodeon and producer Rainbow will co-develop and co-produce 52 new episodes of the series (split into two seasons), which it will roll out in 2012. Nick will introduce the series on its own network in 2011 with four hour-long specials based on material in the first two seasons, and episodes from the third and fourth seasons.
