by on August 21, 2012

Character actor William Windom passed away on August 17, 2012, at the age of 88 from congestive heart failure. Windom won an Emmy award in 1970 for his work in the TV series My World and Welcome To It based on the works of James Thurber, but he is probably better known for numerous guest spots on episodes of The Twilight Zone, Murder She Wrote, and the original Star Trek, in which he played Commodore Matt Decker in the episode “Doomsday Machine.” Windom’s long acting resume included several voice acting roles, with the largest being Uncle Chuck in Sonic the Hedgehog. Others included roles on The Jetsons (1985), Batman the Animated Series, and Goof Troop.
