Welcome to Toonzone’s Miyazaki Week
To commemorate the release of Ponyo on DVD and Blu-ray on March 2, 2010, Toonzone is kicking off Miyazaki Week: 5 days of reviews and essays on the work of Studio Ghibli’s Hayao Miyazaki.
OK, fine, that’s a business week, but “Miyazaki Business Week” sounds like a magazine. Work with us, here.
To many fans of animation, Hayao Miyazaki is a man who needs no introduction. It is no exaggeration to call him one of the greatest modern masters of animation, and he has directed of some of the most beloved animated films of all time, including My Neighbor Totoro, Princess Mononoke, and the Oscar-winning Spirited Away. His fanbase includes Disney Chief Creative Officer John Lasseter, along with probably the entire staff of Pixar and nearly everyone who’s anyone in the field of animation, many of whom honored him last year at a special appearance at the San Diego Comic Con and with an award given by the Association of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.
In conjunction with Walt Disney Studios Home Entertainment, Toonzone is hosting a giveaway where 5 lucky winners will receive all 4 of the newly-released Studio Ghibli Collection DVDs: Ponyo, Castle in the Sky, My Neighbor Totoro, and Kiki’s Delivery Service.
