Warner Brothers to Sell Movies & TV on BitTorrent
In a sudden reversal of company policy, Warner Brothers’ video unit announced plans to release television shows and movies officially through the BitTorrent file-sharing service. In the past, Warner Brothers and most other studios considered such services to be liabilities, resulting in lost revenue due to piracy. The new service is scheduled to start this summer, but pricing and a full list of launch-date programming was not available at press time. Tim Burton’s Corpse Bride has been mentioned as a movie which will be available when the service launches, along with Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire and Babylon 5.
