Turner Classic Movies to Screen Rare Animation Marathon on October 21, 2012

Turner Classic Movies will be hosting a rare animation marathon on Sunday, October 21, 2012, starting at 8:00 PM (all times ET) with the Fleischer Bros. Gulliver’s Travels and Mr. Bug Goes to Town features, followed by a slate of UPA short films at 11:00 PM and then a slate of silent animated shorts from New York Studios at 12:00 AM. The marathon will conclude with The Adventures of Prince Achmed, a film shot using a silhouette animation technique in 1926 that was hailed as the first animated feature film at the time. Joining regular TCM host Robert Osborne will be animation historian Jerry Beck.
