Variety reports that Hasbro has entitled its new Transformers animated series Transformers: Robots In Disguise and that the show is on track to be broadcast on the Hub Network starting in the Spring of 2015. The Hub Network first announced its new Transformers show in March, characterizing it as an “action-packed adventure with lots of comedy” featuring hand-painted backgrounds and 3D characters.
The show is not to be confused with the ongoing comic of the same name being published by IDW Comics, nor the Japanese-original animated series Transformers: Car Robots from 2000 that was localized in English with the “Robots In Disguise” name. Transformers: Robots In Disguise is set years after the events of Transformers Prime and stars Bumblebee, who leads a small ragtag team of young Autobots to Earth to put a stop to a new faction of Decepticons. A new promotional image, pictured above, features Bumblee with his comrades Sideswipe (left) and Fixit (right). A new logo for the series, pictured below, was also revealed on the official Transformers Facebook page.
In addition to executive producer Jeff Kline (G.I. Joe Renegades, Transformers Prime), confirmed staff on the program now includes Adam Beechen as producer and Steven Melching as story editor. Mr. Beechen was an executive producer on The Adventures of Chuck and Friends and has done scriptwriting for Teen Titans, The Batman and Cartoon Network’s Ben 10 franchise, while Mr. Melching has writing credits that include Star Wars: The Clone Wars, Transformers Prime, Beast Machines, The Batman and Batman: The Brave and the Bold.
Transformers: Robots In Disguise reportedly stars the voice talent of Will Friedle (Bumblebee), Darren Criss (Sideswipe), Mitchell Whitfield (Fixit), Constance Zimmer and Ted McGinley. The roles for Zimmer and McGinley and the identities of the series’ Deception characters have yet to be revealed.
