Having long been a fixture of American conventions, Bandai’s Tamashii Nations returned once again to MCM London Comic Con as part of their recent move in to the UK market. Tamashii Nations is a name that will be familiar to those who import Bandai’s various collector aimed toylines such as S.H. Figuarts and Metal Build, but appearances such as these aim to make fans elsewhere in the world aware of the brand and their products.
A range of these were available to purchase at their booth, largely Figuarts from popular series such as Marvel’s Avengers, Super Mario Bros, Dragon Ball Z, Naruto and Sailor Moon. There was even a chance to get an advance look at the under development figures of entertainment legends Freddie Mercury and Bruce Lee.
Speaking personally as a long time collector myself (I own figurines from a range of Japanese companies, including Bandai’s Figuarts, Robot Damashii, NXEDGE STYLE and Gunpla), merchandise pricing was quite reasonable. UK fans are in the unenviable position of facing the threat of hefty customs fees when importing collectables related to this hobby and the pricing of Tamashii Nations goods appears aware of this, offering items not natively located here in the UK at a balanced price respective of the material/engineering costs of each.
