Toei Animation Re-Affirms CG “Saint Seiya” film, Considers New TV Series

Toei Animation Chairman Kozo Morishita revealed at Mipcom 2012 that the long awaited computer-generated Saint Seiya film will “hopefully” see completetion in July 2013. Morishita, a producer of numerous Toei animated series’ including the original 1986 Saint Seiya cartoon series, is also considering producing a new animated series, “In the past we’d produced a TV series first and then a film, but we’ve found that delivering a movie before starting to develop a series is a great way to test the appetite of audience, and limit risks.”

Toei first confirmed that production of a Saint Seiya movie in February 2011. TV Asahi began airing Saint Seiya Omega April 2012. Veteran voice actor Tooru Furuya returned after a twenty-three year abscence to voice the titular character, Seiya.
