DreamWorks Animation SKG’s The Croods took the #2 spot at the box office for Easter weekend with estimated ticket sales of $26.5 million, bringing its cumulative 10-day total to an estimated $88.6 million. The movie came in second place behind G.I. Joe: Retaliation, the sequel to 2009’s G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra which brought Hasbro’s long-lived toy franchise to movie screens for an estimated $41.2 million in ticket sales. The Croods‘ box office marks a 39% drop from its opening weekend receipts, which represents promising word-of-mouth for the film and still puts it on target to surpass DreamWorks’ disappointing box office for Rise of the Guardians within a week.
