"South Bank Show" Special to Cover Anime

ITV1′s South Bank Show arts series will be dedicated to anime on February 19 and will include interviews with leading lights of anime, such as film producer Matsuhisa Ishikawa. ITV4 will follow up the show with an airing of the 1995 animation film Ghost In The Shell on March 4. [Source: BBC]

Five Commissions "Rupert and Friends"

Entertainment Rights (ER) has received a commission from U.K. network Five for fifty-two 10-minute episodes of the preschool series Rupert and Friends, World Screen reports. The new series, combining stop frame animation and 3-D CG, is currently in pre-production at Cosgrove Hall. It will launch on Five’s children’s block this fall.

Nick U.K. Comes to Freeview

Nickelodeon U.K. is launching a preschool programming block on Freeview through its sister family channel The Music Factory (TMF), C21Media reports. The two-hour block will take the same name as Nickelodeon U.S.’s preschool digital offering–Noggin–and will become available this month on all platforms. The block will feature programming from Nickelodeon’s preschool channel Nick Junior.
