Sony’s Open Season took the #1 spot at movie box offices this past weekend, taking in an estimated $23 million. The sum would put it just past the opening weekend debut of Monster House ($22.2 million), but well behind the $40 million pre-2006 opening weekend average for computer-generated animated movies.
