Nickelodeon LA has announced a number of new animated series/licenses, World Screen reports. Included are Mr. Meaty, Barnyard (a spin off of the recent animated film), and Mexican inspired El Tigre: The Adventures of Manny Rivera–which focuses on a teenage boy deciding on following the path to superhero or supervillain.
Variety reports that Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan has signed on with Paramount to write, produce, and direct three live action films based on Nickelodeon’s popular Avatar animated series. Animation historian Jerry Beck will be hosting a preview screening of six new short films at the Nicktoons Studios in Burbank, CA, on January 10, 2007. The screenings will be from Random Cartoons, a new series for Nickelodeon from Studio Frederator, and will include Beck’s own “Hornswiggle.” The event is open to members of ASIFA-Hollywood.
Children will soon be able to surround themselves with Diego, the hero of Nickelodeon’s Go, Diego, Go! animated series, with a line of bedsheets and room decor coming soon to Toys R’ Us and Wal-Mart stores, as well as several on-line retailers. Read the full press release for details.

Animation World Network is stating that Nicktoons Network will be launching new content on the iTunes Store, including their new Skyland cartoon that debuts on November 18. All offerings will be $1.99, and presumably season discounts will be available.
