Star Wars VIII And IX Has A Director And It’s Not J.J. Abrams

by on June 20, 2014

Getting a jump on the next trilogy in the series, Disney is being proactive in naming its “Star Wars” films directors and the director for the next film in the series will not be J.J. Abrams, but rather, Rian Johnson, who recently directed “Looper”. Abrams is currently helming the seventh episode of the mega-franchise but both the eighth and ninth episodes of the franchise – which are tentatively expected to have 2017 and 2019 release dates, respectively – will be handled by Johnson.

“Star Wars: Episode VII” is currently scheduled to be released on December 18, 2015.
