"South Park" Creators Signed to 2011, Land Ad-Sharing Deal

by on August 27, 2007

The New York Times is reporting that Trey Parker and Matt Stone, the co-creators of South Park, have just signed a deal with Comedy Central to renew the show to a 15th season (in 2011), evenly split ad revenues, and significantly raise their salaries and back-end advances on merchandising revenues (registration required). As part of the deal, Comedy Central’s parent company Viacom will also establish a digital animation studio named SouthParkStudios.com “along the lines of a similar one at Nickelodeon,” which will nurture new animated TV series and also make South Park available legally for viewing on-line.
