Son of Miyazaki to Direct Next Ghibli Film
Studio Ghibli producer Toshio Suzuki has announced in a talk at Meiji University that the next Studio Ghibli film will be directed by Goro Miyazaki, one of Hayao Miyazaki’s sons, Ryoko Toyama on the Miyazaki Mailing List reports.
In the past, Goro Miyazaki worked in landscaping. According to Ms. Toyama, he designed the rooftop garden at the Ghibli Museum. No information was available about his animation experience, if any.
According to Suzuki, Miyazaki’s father is “still fiercely against the idea.”
Some speculate that a project said to be in development at Ghibli about a river trade route might be the one that the younger Miyazaki will direct. Previously, Suzuki had announced that the original work on which the next Ghibli film is to be based would be announced on Dec. 13.
