Shel Silverstein Biopic In The Works

A film biography profiling cartoonist and children’s author Shel Silverstein, may be coming to life in the near future. The film will be based on the book “A Boy Named Shel: The Life and Times of Shel Silverstein” by Lisa Rogak. The film will cover the life of Silverstein, who started out as a cartoonist for Playboy magazine, gained popularity as a children’s author with the prize-winning “The Giving Tree” in 1965 and found further success as a poet, screenwriter, songwriter and singer.

Silverstein passed away in 1999 after suffering a heart attack at the age of 68.
