SDCC2009: Bone Movie Still Being Developed At Warner Bros. Says Jeff Smith

by on July 28, 2009

Right before preview night started at the 2009 San Diego Comic Con, ICv2 held a mini-conference featuring guest attendees, writers, and producers. Bone and RASL creator, Jeff Smith, was featured in the How To Say No to Hollywood panel, where Smith discussed his troubles in adapting Bone to become a feature film. Despite Smith’s troubles in getting Bone to the movie realm before, he was positive about the current development deal in place for Bone at Warner Bros., where the movie had been previously been attempted earlier. Smith said a script was being written and it would be taken to the bigwig executives soon. Nothing is set in stone, but Smith was positive because he and his wife made the right deal for the movie and were given all the back-end clauses they wanted and now have an official agent working for them. Judging from Smith’s words at the beginning of the panel, he will want the movie of his best-selling creation to be fully animated through an independent production studio.
