If you follow Tekken lore, you’ll know that Heihachi Mishima, the main antagonist of the series, is not in the running for any Father of the Year Awards. You don’t toss your five-year-old son into a ravine if you’re angling for a macaroni picture frame. And most of the drama in the series essentially stems from Heihachi’s warped parenting skills.
This new trailer released as part of Namco Bandai’s Comic-Con International Tekken panel promises closure to the ongoing struggle between Heihachi, his son Kazuya, and his grandson Jin Kazama.
The trailer focuses on Kazuya’s mother Kazumi, who talks about how Heihachi must be stopped, and the story seems to be centered around the struggle that lead to the death of Kazumi. The Devil Gene that Kazuya and Jin carry is heavily hinted to be involved.
According to Polygon, it was also revealed at the panel that Tekken 7 will feature character designs from seven guests artists, including “Mari Shimazaki (Bayonetta), Yusuke Kozaki (Fire Emblem Awakening, No More Heroes), Ninnin (Duel Masters, Cardfight!! Vanguard) and Kenichiro Yoshimura (Max Anarchy/Anarchy Reigns).”
