Roy Disney and Stanley Gold Send Letter to Disney Board

by on March 10, 2005

Disney dissident shareholders Roy Disney and Stanley Gold today sent a letter to The Walt Disney Company board of directors, stating that company directors were subverting the search for a new chief executive. Gold and Disney said they believed current Chief Executive Michael Eisner would participate in interviews of candidates, and that “the practice would make a mockery of the idea that candidates should have meaningful interchanges with the non-management members of the board.” PR Newswire has a copy of the letter.

Gold and Disney had given the board qualified support in its aim to find a new CEO by June, but the pair helped spark a 2004 shareholder revolt and returned to their critical stance today.
