Robert Iger Named New Disney CEO (Updated)
Robert A. Iger will succeed Michael D. Eisner as The Walt Disney Company CEO, the company announced today.
Iger was unanimously selected for the job by the Walt Disney Co. board of directors. He will take over on September 30, 2005, following Eisner’s stepping down.

Update: Roy Disney and Stanley Gold have issued a statement regarding the decision. While they were pleased to see Eisner go, they expressed disappointment in the appointment of Iger as CEO. PR Newswire has a copy of their statement.
