– CG Animated Movie Debuts on Disney DVD and Blu-Ray October 28 –
The wonders of nature and the magic of fairies converge in an inspiring adventure starring one of the world’s most beloved characters, in Walt Disney Pictures’ “Tinker Bell,” to air in a special television presentation, SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 30 (8:00 p.m., ET/PT) on Disney Channel. The CG-animated, full-length movie debuts on Disney DVD and Blu-Ray on October 28.
Executive-produced by Academy Award winner John Lasseter, chief creative officer of Pixar and Disney Animation Studios, the all-new animated film marks the title character’s first on-screen words. Introduced are Tinker Bell’s fairy friends, Fawn, Iridessa, Rosetta and Silvermist, the benevolent Queen Clarion, the nurturing Fairy Mary, fairy dust keeper Terence, Cheese the mouse and the comically talented tinkers Clank & Bobble.
The heartfelt tale tells the story of Tink’s early life in Pixie Hollow, an enchanting land where the world of nature originates and where every fairy is born with a special talent – whether it’s making flowers grow, giving fireflies their light or tracing beautiful patterns into a winter frost. But Tinker Bell, who is part of Pixie Hollow’s craftsman group, doesn’t think her behind-the-scenes job as a “tinker” is as special as the other fairies’ roles. Soon, Tink tries to change who she is but with encouragement from her friends, she learns to appreciate her unique abilities… and discovers that when you stay true to yourself, magical things can happen.
Starring are: Mae Whitman (“Independence Day”) as Tinker Bell, Kristen Chenoweth (“Pushing Daisies”) as Rosetta, Raven-Symoné (“That’s So Raven,” “College Road Trip”) as Iridessa, Lucy Liu (“Dirty Sexy Money”) as Silvermist, America Ferrera (“Ugly Betty”) as Fawn, Jane Horrocks (“Little Voice”) as Fairy Mary, recording artist Jesse McCartney as Terence (the fairy dust keeper) and Anjelica Huston (“The Royal Tenenbaums,” “Prizzi’s Honor”) as Queen Clarion, Jeff Bennett (“Return to Never Land”) as Clank, Rob Paulsen (“Pinky & the Brain”) as Bobble and Pamela Adlon (“King of the Hill”) as Vidia.
The score is by composer Joel McNeely (“Return to Never Land”) and features renowned Celtic violinist Máiréad Nesbitt. Loreena McKennitt performs the film’s theme song and narrates the magical tale. Selena Gomez (“Wizards of Waverly Place”) sings the enthralling closing credit song.
The movie was directed by Bradley Raymond (“The Lion King 1½”) and produced by Jeannine Roussel (“The Lion King II – Simba’s Pride”). Fred Warter (“Pixar’s “A Bug’s Life”) is the art director and Doug Little (“The Lion King II: Simba’s Pride”) is the digital director. “Tinker Bell” was written by Jeffrey M. Howard.
