PR: Jill Shields Named SVP, Strategic Marketing & Partnerships at Turner AYAKM

Jill Shields has been promoted to senior vice president of marketing and promotions for Turner Broadcasting System, Inc.’s Animation, Young Adults and Kids Media (AYAKM), it was announced today by Brenda Freeman, chief marketing officer for AYAKM. In her expanded role, Shields will be responsible for developing and executing promotional marketing programs that support multiplatform brand priorities while delivering ad sales solutions to drive revenue goals across all the businesses within the division, including Cartoon Network, Adult Swim, GameTap.com and other digital New Media properties. Additionally, Shields will supervise all aspects of AYAKM special events and trade marketing activity, which includes the Cartoon Network and Adult Swim Advertising Upfront programs. Shields is based in Atlanta and will continue to report directly to Freeman.

Previously, Shields served as vice president of promotions marketing and sponsorships for Cartoon Network and Adult Swim. In this capacity, she was responsible for developing compelling and innovative national advertiser promotional programs and sponsorships across multiple platforms. Among her accomplishments, Shields managed premier sports partnerships with the NBA, NFL, MLB and NASCAR; she helped to build Cartoon Network’s overall pro-social campaign umbrella, GET ANIMATED; and she served as vice president in charge of production for Cartoon Network’s NBA All-Star program and PROPS, a national search for real-world kids with exceptional talent, commitment and prowess in sports or the arts.

“Jill’s remarkable accomplishments with Cartoon Network’s and Adult Swim’s advertising sponsorships, along with her deep knowledge of the promotions marketing business overall, make her an extremely valuable asset to the AYAKM marketing team,” said Freeman. “Over her relatively short tenure with the company, she has significantly helped to expand the reach, visibility and brand messaging of our networks and our digital businesses. We’re delighted that she has accepted important new challenges and look forward to the bold, creative results we’ve come to expect from Jill’s thriving group.”

Shields came to Turner Broadcasting in 2000 to serve as a New Media consultant to Cartoon Network, and she was quickly offered a permanent role as senior manager of promotions marketing and sponsorships for Cartoon Network New Media. Within two years she was named director of the division, which expanded her role to include Cartoon Network and charged her with creating promotional packages that complemented advertising client programs based on specific marketing objectives. In 2004, she was promoted to vice president and created and executed several hundred promotions and sponsorships annually across all Cartoon Network television and digital businesses.

Previously, Shields was a researcher at The Coca-Cola Company responsible for identifying, analyzing and reporting marketplace and workforce trends to support information technology and marketing initiatives. She also served from 1996-1999 as an account executive at System One Technical.

Shields earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from Roger Williams University in Bristol, RI.
