PR: FUNimation Channel Adds New Shows to Programming Slate

Revamped Schedule Features U.S. Premieres of Anime Series

FLOWER MOUND, TX, March 3, 2008 – The FUNimation® Channel, the premiere 24/7 digital anime network from FUNimation Entertainment & OlympuSAT, will be premiering seven new animated series, including titles from Central Park Media and Right Stuf, Inc.The debuting titles include Moonphase, Peach Girl, Suzuka, Black Cat, Shingu, Record of Lodoss War and Ninja Nonsense, the first of which begin airing this week.


Moonphase (TV-PG) — The FUNimation Channel has picked up 26 episodes of this supernatural comedy in which a photographer, while on assignment for a magazine devoted to the occult, encounters a young vampire girl who tries to turn him into her servant and then follows him home to Japan. Slated to premiere Monday, March 3 at 7:30 a.m. (30 minutes. Airs M-F at 7:30 a.m. and again at 10:30 a.m. and 3:30 pm)

Peach Girl (TV-PG) – This 25 episode dramatic series is about an average high school girl who is trying to remake herself into the girl she believes the boy she likes wants. Added to the drama, a friend is trying to steal the object of her affection away from her. Meanwhile, she doesn’t realize there’s another boy who is in love with her – just the way she is. Premiering Monday, March 3 at 8:30 am (30 minutes. Airs M-F at 8:30 a.m. and again at 11:30 a.m., 4:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m.)

Suzuka (TV-PG)– This dramedy series tells the story of a teen who has just moved to Tokyo but in the course of living his normal high-school life has become mesmerized by the beauty of a girl at school. He is surprised when he learns that the girl, Suzuka, actually lives next door to him! From then on, his ordinary life begins to change! Premiering Monday, March 3 at 9:30 a.m. (30 minutes. Airs M-F at 9:30 a.m. and again at 12:30 p.m., 5:30 p.m., and 8:30 p.m.)

Black Cat (TV-14) — In this action adventure series, Train Heartnet is known as the Black Cat. He is an unbeatable master gunman, a cold and unfeeling killer until he meets Saya, a bounty hunter, or “sweeper”. She teaches him the value of a human life, and that one should live in order to repent for one’s mistakes rather than die because of them. Premiering Monday, March 3 at 2:30 p.m. (30 minutes. Airs M-F at 2:30 p.m. and airs again at 9:30 p.m. and 2:00 a.m.)

Shingu: Secret of the Stellar Wards (TV-PG) – This science fiction series from Right Stuf Inc.’s Nozomi Entertainment begins the day after an apparent alien invasion of Tokyo is repelled by a mysterious being. Middle-school student Murata Hajime discovers that his small town holds a strange secret when he witnesses a transfer student fight another student using psychic powers. Since Hajime himself is relatively new to his town, he has been unaware that the leading families have been protecting the earth from alien invasion for centuries by using the ability of “Shingu”. He also begins to discover that he has a role to play in Earth’s future. Premiering Monday, March 3 at 3:00 p.m. (30 minutes. Airs M-F at 3:00 p.m. and again at 9:00 p.m.)

Record of Lodoss War (TV-14) — A fantasy adventure from Central Park Media about the aftermath of the last great battle of the gods, Lodoss and its kingdoms have been plagued by war for thousands of years. As a quiet peace comes over the land, an unknown evil begins to stir. An ancient witch has awakened, bent on preserving the island of Lodoss by creating political unbalance throughout the many kingdoms. Only six young champions can prevent Lodoss’ descent into the darkness of war and destruction. Premiering Saturday, March 8 at 11:00 a.m. (30 minutes. Airs Saturdays at 11:00 a.m. and again at 6:30 p.m. and Sundays at 11:00 a.m. and 9:00 p.m.)

Ninja Nonsense: The Legend of Shinobu (TV-MA) — A comedy featuring Shinobu, a naive ninja-in-training. In order to test her ninja abilites, she must steal the panties of all the high school girls. The first house she stops at is the abode of one Kaede Shiranui, who happens to catch Shinobu in the act. Kaeda is the voice of reason and the two girls become quick friends, despite a round yellow ball-thing who claims to be a ninja master and tries to get in the way of their friendship. Premiering Sunday, March 9 at 4:00 a.m. Acquired also from Right Stuf, Inc./ Nozomi Entertainment.
