NEW YORK, August 22, 2007 – Nickelodeon will introduce preschoolers to the thrilling life of international super spies, covert operations, and remarkable gadgets on The Backyardigans’ first hour-long, primetime TV movie “Super Secret Super Spy” premiering Monday, September 17 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. (ET/PT) on Nickelodeon. Grammy award-winning recording artist Cyndi Lauper performs the movie’s original theme song “The Lady in Pink,” as Nick Jr.’s five backyard pals move stealthily along to a hip jazz beat in exotic locations including London, Switzerland, the Caribbean and Miami.

On Tuesday, September 18, Nick Jr. will release a new DVD entitled The Backyardigans: Super Secret Super Spy, created by Nickelodeon Home Entertainment and distributed by Paramount Home Entertainment. The DVD will feature the title hour-long TV movie, in addition to two other The Backyardigans adventures, “The Secret of Snow” and the never-before-seen episode, “A Giant Problem.” Bonus features on The Backyardigans: Super Secret Super Spy include music videos, and a behind-the-scenes featurette for “The Lady in Pink” with Cyndi Lauper.

“I think The Backyardigans is one of the best shows on TV for children, and it was my pleasure to lend my voice to ‘Super Secret Super Spy,’ said Cyndi Lauper. “The soundtrack is so great – it’s real music that isn’t dumbed down like most kids’ music is. The characters are also fantastic — strong, smart and lovable. The Backyardigans shows kids how fun it is to use one’s imagination and in this video-crazed age there is just not enough of that in most kids’ daily lives.”

“This exciting international adventure has a super cool style and hip jazz soundtrack which give a blockbuster feel to The Backyardigans’ biggest musical journey yet. Preschoolers will learn everything a super spy needs to save the world including mysterious disguises, high tech gadgets and perfect dance moves,” said Brown Johnson, Executive Vice President, Executive Creative Director, Nickelodeon Preschool Television. “We are thrilled to have had the opportunity to work with the very talented Cyndi Lauper.”

It’s a recipe for disaster in “Super Secret Super Spy,” as the James Bond-style spy, Agent Secret (Pablo), is on an important international mission to protect the world from evil doers. Tasha is Miss T, the head of the International Super Spy agency who directs Agent Secret to stop the villainous Lady in Pink (Uniqua) from stealing three top-secret containers. Tyrone is the Lady in Pink’s hapless henchman, and Austin plays Agent Secret’s undercover contact who aids Agent Secret and dons new disguises in each locale. A hip jazz soundtrack moves the action along as Agent Secret travels to various exotic locations including Miami Beach, a London pub, a café in Switzerland and a beach cabana in the Caribbean, to obtain the containers before they are stolen by the Lady in Pink. But will Agent Secret and Miss T survive the Lady in Pink’s infamous tickle torture?

In addition, beginning Monday, September 3, Nickelodeon will roll out content from “Super Secret Super Spy” across the following Nickelodeon Preschool platforms:

Nick Jr. Video, Nick Jr.’s broadband video service available on Nickjr.com, will begin streaming clips and music videos from “Super Secret Super Spy.”
Clips and music videos from “Super Secret Super Spy” will be available on wireless carriers.
Time Warner’s Video On Demand service will commence windowing music videos from “Super Secret Super Spy” and other spy-themed episodes of The Backyardigans.

Nick Jr.’s award-winning website (www.nickjr.com) will feature an interactive game and activities to complement the premiere of The Backyardigans TV movie “Super Secret, Super Spy.” Beginning Friday, August 31, Nick Jr.com will feature the “The Backyardigans International Super Spy” 3D adventure game where kids can go online and play as Agent Secret Pablo, to overcome various obstacles and find missing pieces of an ancient recipe, before the pink robots do. Additionally, NickJr.com will feature spy-themed printables, crafts, activities and more.

In every episode of The Backyardigans, five high-spirited neighbors meet in their adjoining backyards and use their imaginations to transform themselves into different locations for epic adventures. The Backyardigans are: Pablo, an energetic, enthusiastic and excitable penguin; Pablo’s best friend Tyrone, an easy-going, confident young moose; Uniqua, a one-of-a-kind character with an adventurous nature; Tasha, a deceptively sweet and girlish hippo; and Austin, a resourceful and shy kangaroo.

Each half-hour episode of The Backyardigans features a unique music/dance genre with four original songs, along with real choreographed movements recreated in animation. The animated dance steps are choreographed by Beth Bogush, a former director of the Alvin Ailey Dance School’s children’s program. The show’s rich animation style features lush, fantasy backgrounds created with CGI and 3D techniques.

Nick Jr. is a specially designed programming block airing on Nickelodeon weekdays from 9 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. (ET/PT).
