Pixar’s Mark Andrews Reported as Possible Director for “Doctor Strange”

Dr. Strange by Steve DitkoThe Hollywood Reporter states that several directors have met or are slated to meet with senior Marvel Studios management to helm a planned movie based on Doctor Strange, Marvel Comics’ Master of the Mystic Arts created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. Among the names mentioned was Mark Andrews from Pixar Animation Studios, who co-wrote and co-directed Brave. The three other names mentioned are Nikolaj Arcel (A Royal Affair), Dean Israelite (Welcome to Yesterday), and Jonathan Levine (Warm Bodies, 50/50). Jon Aibel and Glenn Berger are also named in the report to pen the screenplay.

Doctor Strange has appeared on-screen in animation before (from Spider-Man and His Amazing Friends to The Super Hero Squad Show and the current Ultimate Spider-Man series, and his own direct-to-video movie), as well as in a TV movie/pilot in 1978 where he was portrayed by Peter Hooten.
