Pixar Grants Girl’s Dying Wish to See "Up"
The Orange County Register is reporting that Pixar Animation Studios helped to grant the dying wish of a young girl with a rare form cancer. 10-year old Colby Curtin was a victim of vascular cancer, but her wish to see Pixar’s Up looked like it would go unfulfilled after she took a turn for the worse at the beginning of June. Several cold calls from a family friend to Disney and Pixar resulted in an unnamed Pixar employee coming to the Curtin household on June 10, 2009, with a DVD of the movie and “a bag of stuffed animals of characters in the movie and a movie poster” for Curtin. Colby Curtin passed away about seven hours after watching the movie.
Pixar Animation Studios declined to comment about the story or identify the employee who visited the Curtins.
