by on July 1, 2014

Variety reports that Paramount Pictures has hired Lino DiSalvo as its new creative director for Paramount Animation. DiSalvo comes from Walt Disney Animation Studios after a 16-year tenure, where he was an animator on Meet the Robinsons and Chicken Little; the supervising animator on Bolt and Tangled; and the head of animation on Frozen. DiSalvo announced his move via Twitter three weeks ago, but Paramount only officially announced the hiring last Friday. Paramount’s statement stated that DiSalvo would be assisting Adam Goodman (President of the Paramount Film Group) build Paramount Animation into a “world-class feature animation studio.” The studio is set to release the second SpongeBob SquarePants movie, The Spongebob Movie: Sponge Out of Water, on February 6 2015, and is also working on a hybrid live-action/CGI animated movie Monster Trucks to be directed by Chris Wedge and set for release on May 29, 2015.
