Oscar-nominated Film “Chico and Rita” Coming to U.S. DVD and Blu-ray on Sept 18, 2012

Cinedigm Entertainment has solicited Fernando Trueba and Javier Marisca’s Spanish-animated feature film Chico and Rita for home video release in the United States on September 18, 2012 and for digital release on August 21st. The film was nominated for Best Animated Feature at the 2011 Academy Awards alongside the winner Rango, A Cat in Paris, Kung Fu Panda 2 and Puss in Boots. Initially taking place at Cuba in 1948, the Chico & Rita follows the romantic history of an aspiring piano player and a beautiful and talented singer over many years and in such cities as Havana, New York, Paris, Hollywood and Las Vegas.

The movie will be available on DVD for $29.95 and as well as a “collector’s set” for $39.95 that will include the film on Blu-Ray and DVD, an audio soundtrack and a 16-page booklet excerpting the graphic novel adaptation of the film. Confirmed on-disc extras are a making-of featurette, an audio commentary featuring director Fernando Trueba, and the U.S. theatrical trailer.
